Dr. Katherine Laney, OD

Dr. Katherine Laney, OD

Dr. Katherine Laney is an experienced optometrist providing comprehensive primary eye care with a strong focus on patient education and communication. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies at Mississippi College.

Dr. Laney’s interest in optometry began early in life. Growing up wearing glasses and later contact lenses, she consistently had positive experiences with her own optometrists. When deciding between medical school and optometry school, those experiences ultimately led her to pursue a career in optometry, where she could build long-term relationships with patients and play an active role in their overall eye health.

She enjoys all aspects of primary eye care and is especially passionate about partnering with patients to provide clear, accurate information that helps them feel confident in their eye care decisions.

Outside of the office, Dr. Laney is married and has three children in college and high school. She enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors, participating in book clubs, and caring for her dogs. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. Dr. Laney also serves as Chief Editor for the online case report publication Eye Meds Now and has been recognized as Tennessee Young OD of the Year in 2005 and Tennessee OD of the Year in 2022. Additionally, she previously served as Chair of the Education Committee for TAOP for four years.

Excellent Service!

This place really makes you feel at home and provides excellent service! The staff was so helpful in everything from telling you what needs to be done, options available to you and patient care in general. They helped me with a speedy appointment, let me know what was covered by my insurance, they inform of co-pays ahead of time and have a really thorough appointment service. The doctor was great and I can't rave about the staff there enough! This was a great choice for a new eye doctor for me after my move.
